Sketch: Human Connection

I was really grateful to have been given the opportunity to play at my VUMBA Gala Night dinner. Boy what fun it was to get the crowd to participate in the music making process. This picture was taken by Audrey Soh. She is currently in the same class as I am. Here is a rough sketch I was working on before the performance. The use of sketches is a great way to break the ice in the crowd. When you take yourself easy on stage, so does the crowd. Here is the rough sketch.

Action: Hold the John Travolta Stance. Back facing to the crowd.

Action: Strum a few notes and use head movement to indicate each note.

Music: Strum the violin to produce a song.

Talk: "How are you all doing?"

Action: After play bring violin case to the front.

Talk: “Just in case you didn’t notice, I want to keep to traditions. Please feel free to drop your cash, handphone, jewelry. Just kidding folks"

Action: Start off by introducing your violin

Talk: “The body is shape like a women’s body. Women gives birth to life and the violin gives birth to sound”, "Probably the worst pick up line ever"

Talk: “This is the f-hole. Go figure”
