Port Dickson: Kuil Sri Maha Mariamman

Our journey takes us to Port Dickson where we witness the engagement of our friend. It was a traditional Tamil wedding. The groom reminded me of the prince of Persia, where one is accompanied by an entourage of well educated companions. The bride's gifts were held high to make way for him.

The Tamil temple was situated next to the coast of Port Dickson. It was adorned by intricate figurines of the Gods. Somehow I was soon transported to India for a brief moment. There were musicians playing the traditional Indian instruments. Even though it sounded traditional, the music had a little bit of Hip Hop drum beats to it.

The bride came out to receive her new Sari from the groom. The ceremony has to finish within the time chosen by the priest. Sweets and treats were shared with the guests after the ceremony came to a closure. Coloured rice were used to shower the bride and groom at the end.
