New Delhi: Qutub Minar

Towering above us lies Qutub Minar. With its red brick facade, this sharp needle looking tower ascends into the heavens to pierce through its floor boards. As I looked up to the heavens, I saw two eagles soaring above us, wanting its share of the attention too. They flew in circles with grace only to guard the very doors of our pre-enlightened minds. After a few seconds of burning like sensation in my retina and a developing neck ache, I decided to take a closer inspection of this structure.
"It has seen a lot over the years, from war to harmony and wealth to poverty. It has also been struck by lightning and jolted by earthquakes numerous times."
The facade of Qutub Minar, also spelled as Qutb Minar, is carved out of red sandstone and marble. It is the tallest minaret in India and is covered with verses from the Qur'an. It is commissioned by Qutb-ud-din Aibak in 1192. Can you even imagine that this structure has stood its ground for more then 800 years. It has seen a lot over the years, from war to harmony and wealth to poverty. It has also been struck by lightning and jolted by earthquakes numerous times. She is still standing tall after so much ground shaking experiences. Kinda reminds me of the Indians themselves though.
